1976: Solo support to "Steeleye Span", Festival Theatre, Adelaide. Formed "Stephen Foster Band"- mark 1.Steve on guitar, vocals, harmonica, songwriting, John Hyland, pedal steel, Craig Taylor guitar, Tom Stehlick on drums, & Simon Death on bass.
1977-1978 "Head First" very successful band. Steve on acoustic, vocals, songwriting, Greg Champion, guitar & vocals, Paul Zeizing, bass, Dean Neilsen, drums/ vocals. Resident at Hyde Park Hotel, Adelaide for 1 yr. Supported Richard Clapton, Sports, Jo Jo Zep & the Falcons & numerous other bands regularly at the Marryatville Hotel.
1978-1979"Beautiful Dreamer"
later renamed "Limited Edition", with Steve on acoustic & electric guitar, vocals, harmonica, songwriting, Paul Shepherd ( with the Borderers now with Dublin Taxi) on fiddle, mandolin & electric guitar, Ben Rodgers on guitar, Michael Hartley on bass & John Appleby (now with "Sympathy Orchestra") drums.
1978: Oct.'Limited Edition" support act to "The Byrds",Festival Theatre,Adelaide 
1981 Moved to Melbourne. Daughter Nicolette was born, - working full time, being a dad/provider etc.
1982: Worked as a duo around Melbourne, for over a year, with alt.country singer songwriter, Cyndi Boste.
1983-4 formed "The Stephen Foster Band" with Steve on guitar, vocals, songwriting, Graham Davidge (just left Goanna Band) on guitar, "Rev" Mick O'Connor(formerly with Broderick Smith & Goanna Band )on Hammond, Rob Little on bass and harmonies and Mike Anderson (from John Chester's band Hotspur) drums and harmonies. Recorded at Richmond Recordings, Tony Beuttel, engineer, & 2 tracks produced by his friend from Fairport Convention - Trevor Lucas. 
1987: Feb.14th St.Valentine's Day, involved in horrific head -on car smash, Dandenong Ranges. Recovering until ’88.
1988: Sold business. Co-writing songs with Graham Goble. Founded 'project band', "Broken Voices", with Graham Goble, Steve Housden( L.R.B.), Steve Foster, Suzy Ahearn ( now with "Adoration on the Gospel Train" ), Annette Roche, all fronting the vocals, Steve Housden /guitars, Phil Henderson /drums & Travis Clarke /bass. Only 10 amazing tracks were recorded, at Metropolis, with Ernie Rose, before the group disbanded.
1989-1990 Played as a duo with multi-instrumentalist Michael Cooper
1991:
Moved house, began manufacturing business in equine medicine. Taught guitar. Duo with banjo/guitar/keyboard Terry Cook.
1992:
Various projects including “The Tenants “(mark 1) again with Michael Cooper, electric bass/tenor harmonies-trio “Sitting Ducks” with Michael /acoustic guitar /flute, John Bishop bass/acoustic guitar /mandolin
1995: "Forever Blue", a co-write song with Graham Goble, first recorded by LRB in 1986, on the album 'No Reins" the last album recorded with John Farnham, became a huge hit in Europe.
1996: Released a new CD- * ”Big Storm Comin' “ with engineer, Roger Russell & arranger/multi-instrumentalist Steph O'Hara, who plays with "Blue Grassy Knoll". CD launch Governor Hindmarsh, Adelaide. Michael Cooper bass/harmonies, Paul Shepherd fiddle/mandolin, Andy McGloin guitar/vocals.
1998-2001: Formed new band *”The Tenants", (contemporary folk/rock) various line ups, including Nicci Foster (Steve's daughter) on bass, played regularly around Melbourne, recorded 3 CD/EP's, (1 live), available only on this web site.
2003: Steve's marriage (after 26 years), and life, imploded. Changes were a-coming!
2003: July; returned to Adelaide -HOME! Performed and recorded as a duo with Max Wright-CD/EP * “Three New Songs".
